About Us
Welcome to the Matsamo Lake Tourist Park — a visionary tourism initiative located in Matsamo, Mashobeni, just five minutes from the Matsamo Border. Overlooking the scenic Driekoppies Dam, this community-driven project is transforming a traditional grazing field into a vibrant tourist leisure centre.
The project was initiated through a partnership between the ETA Community Development Department, the Ministry of Tinkhundla, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, KOBWA, and the Matsamo Community. Generously allocated by Chief Matsafeni Shongwe, the land spans over 6 hectares alongside Driekoppies Dam.
Managed by a dedicated trust committee representing all Matsamo constituencies, the first phase of development includes a beautifully constructed restaurant, made possible through seed funding. KOBWA has supported the project by installing essential water and electricity infrastructure.
We aim to uplift the community through sustainable tourism, employment creation, and reinvestment in local development. Revenue generated is funneled back into community projects within the Mashobeni and Matsamo areas, ensuring long-term benefits for all.
We have reached the completion of Phase 1 by March 2024, we have an experienced operator Bithu Group in charge of managing the restaurant facility. Phase 2 will introduce water-based activities, lodging, and private partnerships to turn this into a fully-fledged tourism hub.
Be part of an inspiring journey where community, nature, and tourism unite to build a better future for the people of Matsamo and the greater Eswatini region.
